TWILIGHT FUN RUN 'UNITES THE CITY FOR CHARITY'
Cape Town, 02 November 2016: Cape Town’s craziest fancy-dress up event, The Twilight Team Run hosted by the city’s oldest charity organisation Community Chest, is uniting the city for charity on 6th December 2016.
“We’re calling for corporates and the public to come together in uniting the Mother City for a good cause,” says Lorenzo Davids, CEO Community Chest of the Western Cape, a non-profit organisation which identifies and supports community welfare initiatives.
Davids says that all surplus funds from this year’s Twilight Run will be invested into education sectors, to help equip scholars going into the 2017 school year.
The annual event, which is celebrating its 34th birthday unofficially earmarks the start of the festive season in the City and is expected to attract in excess of ten thousand fun walkers, runners and skaters this year who will strut their way from Darling Street at the Grand Parade for 4km through the side streets of the CBD and back to the starting point again.
Participants showcasing their creative costume design talents can enter the dress-up competition which is held at 17h30 prior to the start of the run/walk and afterwards participants can party it up to Cape Town Radio DJs at the Twilight Festival on the Grand Parade.
Families and friends join forces to enter as teams as well as schools, NGOs, municipal departments, large corporations and small businesses.
“It is the only fun run/walk event that awards no medals for first place over the finish line and has no timekeepers but rather encourages community based revelry in support of a great cause.” Davids explains.

Online registrations close on 30th November at midnight.
Manual entries may be completed/submitted at Community Chest Head Office (82 Bree Street, Cape Town) and Top Events Head Office (6 Koeberg Road, Maitland) until 02 December 2016.
Entries are also available from the following Sportsman’s Warehouse stores until 14th November: Rondebosch, Canal Walk, Tygervalley, West Coast, Tokai, Sea Point, Somerset West.
Number pack collection takes place at City Hall from 13h00 to 18h00 on Monday 5th and 12h00 to 18h00 on Tuesday 6th December.

It should be noted that this event strictly prohibits alcohol on the route and no alcohol is to be brought into the Twilight Festival area on the Grand Parade however, alcohol can be bought at the licensed entertainment areas at the event.
